There was once a very complicated, family-oriented culture that was centered in tribal units all through the European landscape. While not centrally governed, the Celts were prolific and dominate. They were nearly wiped off the face of the earth by the even more dominating Roman Empire, but their footprint can still be felt in their final resting places of Ireland and Great Britain today. That's why you should be wearing Celtic Irish t-shirts this holiday season.
While the Celtic people were spread all throughout the greater part of Europe, the last remnants of the Celtic language are only spoken in the areas of Ireland and Western Britain now. After years of persecution and suppression, the Celts are alive and well. They deserve Celtic Irish t-shirts to show off their pride.
Saint Patrick's Day is the best day to honor the dying Celtic culture with Celtic Irish t-shirts. It may be a holiday that everyone spends drinking and having fun, but the Holiday was originally created as a religious holiday that honored the conversion of the Celtic people to Christianity. Drinking and having fun is great, but take a minute to think about the Celts' past and all it has to teach us.
There are lots of shirts out there that have some irreverent joke on them about drinking and alcohol. Is that what the Irish should be known for best? Why don't you be the one person wearing Celtic Irish t-shirts that remember the Celtic people for something besides what some cartoon character leprechaun wants you to think. The Irish have a history that is long and robust. Remember that.
Have a wonderful time on Saint Patrick's Day, by all means. The day is known now as one of the bigger party days of the year, and far be it from me to take that away from anyone. What I would love for everyone to do, though, is to find some way to remember and honor the culture of the Celts. Read about them on Wikipedia, or wear Celtic Irish t-shirts. Find a way, because they are deserving of your respect.
