Personal development rather than high score cards is the main focus of Montessori Toronto. It is believed that this method of education produces better individuals. The activities are geared toward enhancing maturity, creativity, social dealings among children.

This is good because this is what the country needs, people with high emotional quotient. The high statistics of suicide and depression in the country is brought about by the lack of development in this part of a person's life. Us psychologists agree that children schooled in this manner performs better in life than those children with traditional education.

Children from this schools can write better essays than most and five year olds easily learn how to read. The difference is in the strategies that they employ in nurturing these children. The focus is not purely academics. By targeting the psychological aspect of the individual, other aspects are automatically empowered.

That is why children receiving such education come out as better individuals. They are more bright, participative and behave better than others. Maria Montessori invented this system of educating children in the early 1900s. The system was created to educate poor children in her native country, Italy.

US psychologists agree that high emotional quotient is more important than intelligent quotient or IQ. More than half of life involves testing the person's emotional tenacity. And success in life is achieved by using one's sound judgment.

This system is more comprehensive than the traditional education. With traditional system, educators focus more on academic learnings. They measure kids' ability through a battery of tests. Children who do poorly in class are considered slow.

It is not easy to do that, given the number of children that go to school especially in a public Montessori Toronto. Yes, there are already public schools that are adopting this kind of educational system. It is possible to implement this at all educational institutions.
