Defunding Public Education Is Scary

When it comes to our nation's future, defunding public education should never happen. Our children are depending on us to provide for their knowledge and skills when they are young. This is so when they grow older, they are ready and available to take over the country. This is the reality. We must face this reality if we are going to prepare these young men and women to take care of us later.

Researching how all of this works is something you can find online. There are also resources in local and university libraries. Many periodicals keep up with this topic as it touches all of us. Stay up-to-date with current events as they will greatly help you stay aware of what is going on in the world. It is part of our responsibility to do this since we live in the world.

The federal money usually goes into the schools while the state money puts its share in if the federal money runs out. The formula for this is not easy to understand. The money pays for books, teachers' salaries, bus transportation, and heating during the winter. This is just to list a few of the expenses as there are a lot more.

Sports, social clubs, music, art, and paying the teachers are also in the budget. All of these things must be paid. It is unfortunate how the arts get swiped away from the curriculum since music has been known to help children learn and remember facts in their homework and to do better on exams. This has been thoroughly researched, but is undermined when it comes to the money.

Sadly, it is not seen this way, however. Hopefully, some day it will. It really should not an option to take away money from such an important concept. Teaching our children who will be adults tomorrow only hurts us. These future adults may be our leaders. They need to be taught the basics and then learn people skills which can come from sports and the arts.

Make some investments such as time and energy into having a fundraiser to raise more money for our schools. If we must have a bake sale to keep these programs alive then so be it. Saving and spending school money wisely is important. Showing our children that we care is important. This will make them feel good about themselves.

Inequality should not exist in the system. Children should not be compared to each other according to how much money their parents make. That is just ridiculous. If one area is more wealthy while another is low-income, the schools should still reflect the same curriculum and opportunities that all schools have. Residential segregation should not determine this.

Defunding public education is a cruel thing to do. It will set many children up to fail. Truancy and delinquency will become more a part of these children's lives if school money is taken away. It is hard enough in today's world for children to keep up. Helping our society long term will only benefit everyone.
